...Can I quickly take this opportunity to say how much I enjoyed the share session on Monday morning. It was extremely well chaired by yourself, and I found it very interesting, and in fact far more useful than any others I attended all day, so thank you!

Who is liable under the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme?

You may be liable if your organisation has one or more mandatory half-hourly  electricy meters. (See News for definition of this)

Electricity consumption in 2008 is the baseline which determines the extent to which an organisation will be involved in CRC. (That's calendar 2008- everything else about the scheme is accounted for in fiscal years!)

  • Those who used more than 6,000MWh of electricity via half-hour meters in 2008 will be full participants and must provide detailed information and take part in the carbon trading scheme.
  • Those who used less than 6,000MWh but more than 3,000MWh are information providers, but do not trade carbon.
  • Those users with mandatory half-hourly meters but using less than 3,000MWh have only to acknowledge that they have the meters.
