Green Office Week 26th - 30th April
30 Mar 2010
Are you ready for Green Office Week? There's no doubt that the key to sustainability is keeping people interested and keeping them motivated. After all, it's claimed that 60% of energy savings are achieved by behavioural change. (I keep hearing that statistic. Does anyone have any hard evidence for it?) Green Office Week appears to be sponsored by the Avery Dennison Corporation, the label people. They are promoting labels to allow you to re-use envelopes.…
Fuel duty rise deferred
26 Mar 2010
No 3p petrol duty increase on 1st April - instead it will be 1p, with the rest phased in after the election. Undoubtedly rising petrol prices will increase inflation, but we cannot soften the blow of rising oil prices through the tax system. Oil is running out - or hadn’t you heard? Yes, we may be able to get it from tar sands, from corn or from beneath distant oceans, but it is still running…

Who should register? Anyone with a mandatory half-hourly meter. A half-hourly meter measures your electricity consumption every half hour, as the name suggests, sends the data back to your supplier and your supply is purchased at the price ruling on the half-hourly market, which…
Electric Car for Sunderland
19 Mar 2010
Nissan announce the Leaf, a five-door electric hatchback to be built at their Sunderland factory. Apparently it will be about the same size and the same price as a Ford Focus, but would you buy one? Maybe as a second car, but the problem is the range of only 100 miles. You can recharge it 80% - if you can find a recharge point - but unlike a plug-in hybrid it has no petrol motor…
