Thames Water today signed a contract with Cyber Associates to monitor electricity consumption in three of their office buildings using the NoWatt super-smart metering system.
Consumption will be monitored on each floor, and can be analysed down to the nearest minute. In practice the system will allow Thames to plot trends and identify areas of high usage. There will be real-time on-line access to the data and Cyber will provide periodic reports and workshops. This will enable staff members to take action to help manage energy and improve efficiency.
Thames Water is already the first organisation to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard and was re-accredited earlier this year. Monitoring energy usage is part of an on-going commitment to managing and reducing the organisation’s carbon footprint.
